Tell friends & colleagues about virus hoaxes the easy way
MYTH: "viruses and Trojan horses are a recent phenomenon"
Reality:
Trojan horses have existed since the first days of the computer; hackers toyed with viruses in the early 1960s as a
form of amusement. Many different Trojan horse techniques emerged over the decades to embezzle money, destroy data,
fool investors, etc. The general public really didn't know of this problem until the IBM PC revolution brought it
into the spotlight. Banks still hush up some computerized embezzlements to this day because they believe
customers will lose faith in them if word gets out.
